Looking back to look forward, the engine revving on the Boeing jet for the first Dsquared2 women’s runway show Star 24/7 in 2003 is the spark of the co-ed Fall Winter 2023 collection. Two decades on, Dsquared2’s roots find new form in a line-up of teenage troupes. There’s the geek, the jock, the goth, the emo, the femme—stereotypes that are broken up and put back together again with contemporary conviction, the freedom to be who you want to be. Denim, elaborately quilted with contrasting proportions of ultra-wide or tiny. Double pants, denim over chinos; outerwear with flourish and the Dsquared2 DNA of mashups, prep mixed with cowboy, puffers or chunky knits with lingerie lace tanks and shorts.

Exploring teenage characters gives leeway for full Dsquared2 energy. Western fare of fringed jackets and denim with stars on the knees is mixed with crop jersey tanks printed with ‘Darlin’ and ‘Emo’ and worn with heeled embroidered Western boots. Shearling chaps are worn over jeans or appliquéd on embroidered shirts. Preppy insignias are embroidered onto V-neck sweaters, on the chest of a men’s coat, or on the lapel of bomber jackets for women. Puffers for men and women are cut from frayed denim, or sporty nylon. A glossy duchesse satin men’s or women’s parka has lace details. Lace on underwear and camisoles peep through men’s and women’s looks. Characters from the iconic arcade game Pac-Man are printed onto T-shirts—part of a new collaboration with the brand.

A Canadian countryside complete with deer and fir trees is quilted onto a jeans and jacket. Denim aprons are layered on top of men’s boxer shorts or women’s hot pants. Frayed denim jeans and skirts have low slung waists.

Cropped ribbed undershirts and pants are mixed into men’s wide shorts, while cropped check jackets are paired with women’s shorts. Two different moto style leatherjackets are cut up and melded into a new design, worn with matching leather pants.

Accessories riff on Dsquared2 design signatures. A belt with a metal branded buckle first launched 25 years ago is looped through denim, shorts and chinos for women and men, and the same buckle in Western or gothic lettering features on the top of the design of the handheld Belt Bag, designed for both men and women. A thermo plastic heart shaped bag is in pop colors of candy pink and yellow, as well as black for men. Boots come Western, desert or biker style and are worn with white socks topped with red stripes.

Inspiration
A return to formality. An exploration of beauty and power through men’s tailoring and a focus on cut, proportion and silhouette.
The classic subverted. Volume is alternatively neat – strict – and exploded. Jackets are spliced and slashed, stripped back and focussed on the body within. Waists are high, elongating the leg: the bumster in reverse. Kilts and the coverall are reimagined: both references
to early McQueen. The most prominent motif in the collection is the orchid, a cultivated flower. Like the tailoring it is dissected: printed, woven and embroidered. The McQueen seal appears alongside.

La collezione uomo di Brett Johnson è un inno alla vita.

Quella classica ma chic , che porta uomini di qualsiasi età a viaggiare, in giro per il mondo, con la valigia pronta, per una moda uomo fatta di materiali pregiati per tutte le occasioni, quali fosse questo uso sapiente dei materiali da indossare, una sorta di “elisir” per sembrare più giovani e trovarsi sempre a proprio agio.

Essere felici di mostrarsi nei “propri panni”. Una collezione dove se l’aspetto fresco, mostrando con fierezza la propria età è uno dei tratti essenziali di quasi tutta questa Fashion Week Milanese (si pensi alla sfilata di Magliano) , nel caso di Johnson è proprio il caso di dirlo, è bello trovarsi davanti agli abiti da indossare per riconoscersi nello stile.

Come recita il comunicato stampa: “la nuova collezione autunno-inverno Brett Johnson delinea una visione maschile ancora più contemporanea e internazionale. Quella proposta dal designer per la prossima stagione è un’eleganza consapevole, riflessiva, in equilibrio tra sofisticatezza eattitude urban. Ne scaturisce un guardaroba animato da una costante tensione dinamica tra linguaggio sartoriale e casual, che reinterpreta gli archetipi menswear a servizio delle esigenze e al ritmo di vita di un pubblico contemporaneo“.

Ed è proprio cosi. Non soltanto quindi per le linee che sono sicuramente morbie e destrutturate, ma per qualla capacità d usarle per rendere l’abbigliamento un tratto distintivo della personalità, fornendo una chiave di lettura della moda uomo come dimensione su cui giocare per sentirsi bene nei propri panni.

Non più quindi una modache deve essere giovane a tutti i costi, ma moderna e confortevole. Ricercata ma con una sartorialità imprescindibile. In particolare per i cappotti e le giacche.

Basti pensare che sono realizzate “ in royal cashmere a 13 micron e mezzo e pura lana vergine a 14 micron e mezzo.Ogni proposta è pensata per immergere chi la indossa in un universo lussuoso, arricchito da dettagli sempre sorprendenti e da un’attenzione alla lavorazione impareggiabile“.

Uno stile che offre quindi moltisime soluzioni per avere un aspetto curato e confortevole senza rinunciare al vero stile del “vestirsi bene”a prescindere dall’anagrafe ,ma puntando sullo stile e la qualità.

Tra colori che cercano di far trovare il modo per sentirsi bene nei propri panni, alla ricerca non di “ringiovanire” a tutti i costi , ma sentirsi davvero giovani. Ed ottenendolo come effetto proprio modo di esaltare la propria bellezza e personalità, perchè molto coerente con la propria visione di eleganza e confort. Ecco quindi che la nuova collezione si sviluppa tra colori neutri e estremamente caldi, quasi”illuminanti” per un autentico mood contemporaneo ma senza rinunciare alle novità.

Concludendo, in questo mood contemporaneao infatti si segnala anche la scelta di offrire anche capi in “total black”, che diventano manifesto dell’universo di Brett Johnson per la prima volta, per un aspetto fresco e raffinato slegato dai classici “colori consigliati” per tutti.

La collezione uomo insomma di Brett Johnson si conferma classica ma chic ma anche coraggiosa ed innovativa, con i materiali più pregiati per una sartoria che offre nei tagli e nella scelta anche del casual, una selezione di stili il più possibile abbinabile e “pronta”, in cui riconoscersi. Un inno alla vita. La propria. Per vestirsi bene e con la taglia giusta. Cosa chiedere di più alla moda maschile?

La luce a Eleventy Men’s FW 23/24

La moda tipica del Made in Italy targato Eleventy è sempre più legata al lusso “responsabile”, a quella sorta di “sostenibilità” che restano i valori che quidano la vision di questo Brand dalla sua nascita e che fanno di Marco Baldassarri e Paolo Zuntini un punto di riferimento per una moda giovane, dinamica che punta a riconoscersi nei propri clienti.

La collezione proposta per la Milano Fashion Week anche questa volta colpisce perchè è decisamente all’insegna della luce.

Luce che riporta nel solco della classica tradizione sartoriale di Eleventy quella particolare caratteristica che si è vista questa volta nella scelta delle abbottonature che rimangono un modo per mettere in risalto la lavorazione spesso preziosa dei tessuti che restano doppi e apribili e che richiedono quindi molta lavorazione.

Vecchi passaggi sartoriali “a mano” che identificano il prodotto e lo rendono unico. Luce che appunto si richiama nel riflesso del materiale scelto e nel colore spesso neutro, in particolare nell’uso dei tagli che restano sartoriali e dei bottoni, sia come idea della abbottonatura che come elemento di decoro , oltre che anche nelle cuciture realizzate e scelte e nei tagli delle maniche o la lavorazione de maglioni.

Da segnalare anche i colori dei gillet con la zip, l’uso della lana e del cachemire e le imbottitute in piuma e le zip a doppio cursore .

Restano comunque i bottoni a colpire , appunto perchè costringono lo sguardo a seguire le linee, a mettere appunto in “luce” tutti quei piccoli particolari sartoriali che si riconfermano il vero punto di forza di questo brand.

Sartorialità unica in cui piace riconoscersi e in continua trasformazione.
