Chanel Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear Campaign

In contrast to the beautiful sandy beach he imagined at the Grand Palais for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear runway show, Karl Lagerfeld has chosen a plain anthracite backdrop for the campaign that accompanies the collection. A difference that’s further highlighted by the photos alternating between colour and black and white. Bursting with character, this campaign features the models Rebecca Leigh Longendyke, Adesuwa Aighewi, Kris Grikaite, Sarah Dahl, Nora Attal, Vittoria Ceretti and Hyun Ji Shin. With a conquering spirit, they pose together in front of the designer’s camera.
On the visuals worked in duotone, black, white, tan beige and navy blue catch the light, while the colours of the collection – lemon yellow, golden sand, pink, blue and iced mint – are bathed in sunshine in the polychrome shots.

Throughout the images, summer encourages a look that blends insouciance with elegance: with an absolute lightness, tweed comes as dresses and suits with ample volumes and as big sleeveless jackets. This spirit of casual chic is reinforced by the wide-cut trousers in cotton or denim guipure. Imbued with a fresh allure, the suit is worn against the skin with a mini-skirt while silk scarves with parasol motifs are knotted as tops. Materials are supple and appear as outfits in two-tone leather or in black crêpe. On the cropped white poplin shirts and the coloured cashmere cardigans, CHANEL is split into two distinct syllables.

There’s just one step from daylight to nightfall, and it’s made with the evening dresses in organza, gazar and silk tulle. All of them play with sophistication and transparency, here adorned with ribbons, ruffles and pleats, there a sequinned plastron…
Laid-back elegance is the order of the day this summer: mules in plexiglass and leather with little heels or a cork sole are the shoes of the season, while the double visor caps and the big fringed straw hats protect from the sun’s rays.
