Bienvenue a Bord! I offer you all a heartfelt invitation to Agbobly’s first NYFW live presentation. As we embark on this journey, we carry with us the essence of our beloved homelands, nourished by the sweet reminiscence of balmy summers, and the gentle whispers of aspirations. Our voyage has led us to new shores, where we have taken root in a sanctuary fashioned from our very beings.
Like intrepid explorers charting unfamiliar terrain, we grapple with the enigma of self-discovery while our hearts remain tethered to the lands we call home. Bien- venue À bord beckons to all souls in pursuit of their true essence, even as they yearn for the familiar embrace of home. In this narrative, the juxtaposition of romanticized Western ideals and the gritty reality of lived experience emerges. Yet within this dichotomy lies the beauty of authenticity and the raw essence of self-discovery.

Amidst the memories entwined between my siblings and me coming of age in Lomé and Chicago, a captivating narrative unfolds, merging the essence of Western and African identities. We delve into the enchanting interplay between the desire for assimilation and the allure of transformation. Each thread in the tapestry is imbued with motifs of wanderlust and a vibrant kaleidoscope of hues. With a steadfast nod to tradition, we present a collection of ready-to-wear, and evening wear, elevated by intricate hand embroidery and silhouettes that serve as a tribute to the immigrants who exist beyond the continent.

With each encounter, a fresh dream unfurls, woven delicately into the tapestryof a burgeoning collection. I invite you to join me in embracing the tender vulnerability of self-expectation and artistic endeavor. With an affectionate nod to the artistry of West African craftsmanship, this new collection heralds the evolution of Togolese dress practices.

In a heartfelt homage to my departed brother, “Bienvenue Aboard” extends an open invitation to all souls, urging them to embrace and celebrate the fluidity of their journey through life, traversing continents and cultures with grace and resilience.
